ABOUT CRUISING CUSTOMS
We provide high quality dual battery systems in vehicles. Owned by electrician, James Hancock, who has many years experience in the electrical field and expert knowledge from spending years fitting out emergency vehicles. Cruising Customs operates from a workshop in Wollongong NSW, alongside skilled builder, Ellis Baker from Dogged Campers providing comfortable and stylish camper setups for people to get out and explore our beautiful country.
A reliable, well-thought out electrical system that performs is an essential part of any camper build. When you’re out camping, the fridge has to stay cold, ventilation matters, the lighting has to be practical and your tools and devices need to stay charged. But most of all, the electrical system needs to be safe. Our builds use only high-quality gear, with all the proper protection and safety measures in place, designed to perform day in and day out.
We have built a reputation for clean work and going the extra mile in regards to electrical reliability and safety. Electricity is not to be played with, carrying very real risks, and auto-electrical has its own regulations and way of doing things compared to a domestic sparky. Go with a dual battery specialist and rest assured that your fitout will be legal, safe and high-performing. Cruising Customs will work with you and your budget to provide the electrical system you need.

Our Expertise.
-
Early Days.
An electrical apprenticeship as a teenager was the start of many years to come in the electrical industry. Beginning in the mechanical-electrical field, as well as domestic environments, then moving on to a position fitting out emergency vehicles for a leading NSW company. This role showed the ropes on many facets of electrical setups in vehicles - and vehicles where reliability was incredibly important: ambulances, fire and rescue trucks to name a few.
-
Home on the Road.
Years in this position provided extensive knowledge in dual battery systems, which was then applied to build a van and take it travelling around Australia. Time on the road showed a lot about what electrical setups perform well off-grid and the essentials for living out of a vehicle

Off-Grid Travelling.
Returning home and diving back into emergency vehicle work, with a new drive for refining skills and expanding experience, I then got a Landcruiser Troopcarrier. This meant a whole new setup with even greater capabilities since the Troopy would go on to take me all around Australia again, this time to even more remote locations. The electrical system never let me down - cold fridge, charged up tools/devices, various lighting, jump starter, solar, DC-DC charger, inverter + more.
